Ive jokingly dubbed the knife 'Foramen.'

Foramen is Latin for hole or opening as a nod to the Spyderco hole:)

Im a big fan of the Mule Team blades and have a couple. The Suminagashi damascus is my favorite.

Not too long ago, I ordered a MicroMelt PD1 from Spyderco and as I wouldnt dream of messing with the Suminagashi, a buddy and I modded this mule.

Here a 'before' pic with scales from Halpern Titanium.

White bed sheets were purchased and homemade micarta made by my friend.

Id already cut a choil and later we bobbed the back end/pommel of the knife and rounded off the 'hump' on top of the blade.

Shaped the linen micarta scales and used epoxy to glue on the scales (West Systems/Easy Composites).

I like the standard configuration of the Mules and they are great for camping, hiking and for when I go kayaking.

But I wanted a small minimalistic knife to be dropped in a pocket, for food prep and other utility tasks, when I have no need for medium or big knives/choppers In the woods.

This modified Mule works just fine for that.
I dont feel, Ive sacrificed much control - if any.

Of course, you no longer have the end of the knife/pommel to grab, if worn on a belt but as this is to be dropped in a pocket, that hardly matters to me.

I wear a size large glove and use the 'Foramen,' the same way I use my other small knives; finger on the spine for fine work and the back end of the knife in the palm of my hand for other work.

Here the 'Foramen' with a small custom made by a friend.

Personally very happy with this modded Mule.

All comments welcome.

Thank you very much, Sal.

A Mule Team 25 in LC200N is next on my wish list for kayaking.

Both to have on the flotation vest and for food prep when stopping for a rest on longer kayaking trips.

I have a Spyderco H1 folder but would like to test LC200N.

The MT25 I wont mess with:D
