***SALE PENDING***A much modded but rock solid Microtech Amphibian manual action plain edge boron coated blade. Shipped to you for only $ 80.
This is an early production (serial 0519 made 12/2001) that was my favorite EDC until last year when I got a Strider SnG. I longer use the Phib and it deserves some one who will continue to use it.
Over years I have modified the Phib to suit my needs and tastes and ergonomics. It got some parallel grooves filed on the butt end to aid draw from inside the waistband, genuine ray skin replaced the rubber inserts, then the tip of the pocket clip was removed where it dug into my palm, then the finish was removed (always hated that green) smoothing and blending at the same time for a warm soft feel in the hand, and lastly a deep choil was ground in the blade.
Of course it was taken apart during this work voiding the warranty. Did you know that a Phib has such tight tolerances it doesnt use washers? Or that the Microbar lock is powered by three stout stainless coil springs? The choil gave the Phib much of the feel of the SnG adding control for close work.
I emphasize that the lock up and mechanical action of this knife is perfect. The blade is like new and has been maintained on a SharpMaker without any scratching or rounding of the point. If you have always wanted a superb Amphibian for carry, this is your knife at a very reasonable price.
Trades? I always like to try other knives and would consider (used not abused OK, plain edge only):
Spyderco Chinook II, Persian, or Karambit
MT Mini SOCOM
Blade Tech Wegner
Fallkniven S-1
Swamp Rat Bog Dog
Dont be afraid to ask about others.
