Modded my Persistence a bit.

I decided to take the little hump off of the back of my Persistence. I got the idea from a guy who did the same to his Resilience. It almost, in my opinion, looks like a Para Military blade shape now.

I taped the blade to get the basic outline of what I wanted to do.

Then I took a Dremel with a cut wheel and went to work.

Here it is after all the grinding was done. Disregard the smudges on the blade, I was cooling the blade in water as I went and wiping it off with a not so clean rag.

All cleaned up. You can see a part where I got careless with the cut off wheel in front of the Spydie logo.

Same thing on this side. I was real careless with the Dremel, but it's a user and only $30 bucks.

To finish the spine, I used 240, 600, 1200, 2400 and 3400 grit sandpaper. Then used a bit of Brasso to finish it. It's not perfect, but good enough for me.

I wore these cool, cut-resistant gloves. They probably saved me a few times.

I also forgot to add that I rounded the tip off a bit when grinding. A few sharpenings will take care of that though.

I've been thinking about picking up a persistence to practice little mods like this or rounding the spine on before I attempt it on anything pricier. Looks good!

Thanks guys. I did decide to start modding on the Persistence because it is so cost effective. I might try my hand in some custom scales for it. Blue or orange G10 most likely

Looks pretty decent man! If you have a sanding block, you can attach some of that sandpaper to it and fix those grinding mistakes pretty easily.

Yeah, I was thinking about it, but it gets a lot of use and will just get scratched anyway. If it really starts to bother me, I can just fix it in a few minutes. Next time, I just have to take my time and be more careful.

I was inspired by the same thread. Took a bit off the top of my Tenacious. Sorry about the lighting.

Thank you very much! Yours turned out great as well. The Res in that thread on the spydie gallery was the cats ass imho. I may buy one and go for it. Ill get a roto tool first this time. Took forever using mostly my sharpmaker stones and a little piece of sand paper. I had a thread on it not long ago.

I took a pic in natural light.

I wish I would've forgone the Dremel actually and took more time. There are some spots that I noticed that aren't up to snuff. I'm probably gonna grab some 120 and throw it on the sanding block and get back to work. While I'm at it, I'm going to polish the rest of the blade with successive grits from 600 to 3400 and finish with some metal polish.

Sounds like a good plan.

Due to recent $ issues I've had to sell off a lot of my favorite knives. The Gayle Bradley is my favorite knife in Spyderco's current line up. So in an attempt to make my self feel better about selling my last one, I smoothed out the g10 on the Tenacious so it feels as close to twill cf as I can get it. I also made the liners a little proud of the scales and shined them up a little.

Here is a pic with my last GB, its shipping out in a few days, and the Tenacious mod doesn't make me feel any better about it. ;-)
