I trimmed down the pointy end (by whittling), as many have done. This compromises the traditional look of the handles, but accomplishes two things:

1. shortens the knife
2. eliminates the sharp point that may wear a hole in your pocket

Overall, this makes the knife more pocket-friendly, and more likely to be carried. It does not affect the grip at all, unless you have huge hands. The appearance takes a little getting used to, but I didn't get this knife for its looks.

Nice job!
Do you feel the steel rusts easily?

I have not really carried this guy, might do so more after this mod. It's been camping once and out on several weed pulls at the local park. As you can see, I forced a patina with vinegar. The blade has not been oiled, and it has not rusted sitting in my drawer for a year.

I had a little rust form on my one Peasant and it was like always trying to come back. I Flitzed it!

nice mod.
My peasant surface rusts after almost every day of use for me, but it's easily removed by a rub of the thumb, so no worries.

Use some Blistex, WD-40 wiped on with a rag, mineral oil, etc. Especially when you are storing it, use a lot!

BTW, nice mod, it makes the handle more graceful and comfortable.

I have the same fugly yellow, and did the same handle mod. My question is did you do something to the stop pin? Mine does not have a hole visible in the handle like that.

I've had no trouble with rust so far, and that includes washing and letting air dry.
I think the blade could be a bit longer...too little blade for such a handle in my opinion.

I kinda like the cheerful yellow. You are correct, I modded the pin by replacing it with one that is a little thicker to prevent the blade from contacting the brass screw when closed. I ended up drilling out the holes by accident.

I carried this knife during a hike, cut some overgrown thistle on the trail. It was a pleasure to carry because the weight is well distributed.

Thanks for all your replies!

I have an orange one...I also moded the handle but in a different way. There is now also a slot where the lanyard goes into the clasp hole. Usually I carry mine inverted in a kydex sheath around my neck or belt 'shrug'... never goes into my pocket.
