I don't understand how or why drilling lightening holes, enlarging the thumb opening or other mods would render the warrantee invalid as I see not design tolerances or integrity being violated in the knife . I am sure changing pivot pins or shortening the handles or blade would. I really want to drill holes on mine and enlarge the thumb opening on my regular but refraining for now.

I have also wondered that. My guess is that CR Knives does not want to be liable for the cost of your mods. Also the mods could affect their ability to work on the knife. If you pay $200 to have something done to the handle and then need warrenty work, CR may damage the mod work while repairing the knife and they don't want to be responsible for that.

Given that, I would bet that if you mod a knife and then need warrenty work, CR would fix the knife if they determine that the mod didn't cause the problem and the mod doesn't affect their ability to work on the knife.

If you hang around on the forums long enough you'll see people that do rather stupid things to their knives them claim it's a warranty issue. not just CRK but almost every forum.

Or worse people that screw up knives then deny they screwed up the knife.

I undertsand, you have to exclude modification coverage because of these types of people.

Being as handy as you are I wouldn't worry about the warranty. Nothing will come up with that knife that really needs any attention that can't be dealt with easy enough. Worse case scenario you may have to pay Reeves to adjust the lock on it once it wears a lot but that could be long after you and I are done here my friend. Chances are you or I could adjust that lock just fine too though so unless a pivot or something like a washer was lost I see no need to worry with it. Will they mail out those things to folks if you needed it? I've never heard or had reason to ask.

Thank you, myfriend ! Not too sure about the pivots as they don't even send out the blade stop cylinder(part that goes over the blade stop) but hey will send out the pins and the screws. Yeah, it is true that it is doubtful that any sebbie will go bad unless abused and wrongly modified. Also, I am not into saying that their policy is wrong becuase of what you guys have suggested. I have two small sebbies and love them!! Got a BG42 regular and a classic with black wood inlays and Devin Thomas damascus blade thanks to one nice forumite who had more than one damascus blade and gave me a good deal on the other(you know who you are)! lots of great guys in this forum!!
