Modded Thumbhole on BenchMade 635

I had a devil of a time consistently opening the Benchmade Mini Skirmish because of the smaller and chamfered thumbhole from the 630.
Yeah the 630 was chamfered also. But biger for my thumb.
I asked around and I didn't see a fix so I took a Dremel to the top of the thumbhole to gain better purchase and removed the chamfer.

I did this cause I really like everything else about the 635. I failed to open and lock the 635 too many times so this was a must for me. Or trade off the knife.

The thumbhole before grinding and smoothing with a dremel stone.

After grinding and smoothing. Didn't take very long at all. I used a magnifying visor to see what I was doing better.

To the casual observer it is transparent.
AND most importantly, I open the blade 100% of the time.

That's a good mod. I really love the 635 but that hole is too small. I think that BM wanted to avoid a Spyderco type blade profile for obvious reasons.

Look at that big thumbprint on the blade!!! If you were to commit some foul play with that thing the police would be able to CSI you from that in no time. ;)

I think thats a great idea.Thats the reason I did'nt line the old Benchmade small ATFK(? or is that Terzola's) folder.I could'nt open it consistently.I wound up trading the Benchmade liner lock.

My 635 should be here tomorrow in the mail....hope my thumb fits better than yours, lol. Thanks for the notes!

After I did this grinding...other ideas were related to me.
Floss or 550 inner core wrapped around the upper thumbhole opening
The old "One Armed Bandit" it screws onto the spine and is a thumbstud.

Anyone have a pic of this? So I can show others what it is.

Here's a pic of the floss idea by Blades.
I really like this and would have used this before dremeling :)

Thanks for the help with the pic, Tom.
Here is what I posted on CPF:
The "floss" I use is my wife's cross stitch floss. They have about 1000 colors to choose from, and my brother wanted orange for some reason. My mother wanted maroon/red for her Dragonfly. I have also used the inner 550 cord(on my mini-AFCK), and then blackened it with a Sharpie, and put Elmers white glue on it. It helps alot with snagging it open on the draw.

Nice Tom!
Have any shots holding the knife in your hand, comparing the 630 along side maybe? ;)

I've been out of the knife world due to work lately, but the steel virus is coming back strong I think and I see one of these in my future :)
