anyone modded their ZT0200? ie wood scales, metal scales, Micarta etc? i'm thinking of making some scalloped 1/4" thick stainless steel or brass scales for mine, i want to beef up the weight a bit and jazz it up.....
I sanded down the micarta scales to be smooth and give them that "wood-grained" look on the one I carry. I also took another 0200, did the same to the scales, but then I wharncliffed the blade. Turned out alright, but I would still like to send it to Tom Krein for a little blade work!
That will definitely "beef up" the weight. I did a set in pink ivory. The weight ended up about the same, but the new scales are a bit thicker than the stock ones.
I can't think of any reason that you couldn't make them from metal. It would be heavy, but I'm sure you realize that.
