Since the Kershaw forum is gone, I figured I'd ask here. Does anyone have pics of modded 300's? I have one incoming tomorrow. I'm pulling the AO and waving it, that much I'm sure of. I've been toying around with a different way of acheiving a wave opening without removing so much steel. It would be closer to severe jimping. I'm also smoothing both scales to be closer to a CC instead of the factory GG. I might torch ano the Ti and maybe add a wicked swedge to the blade.

If you pull the AO you will need to put a detent in the blade for retention. I'm a fan of the wave and we know you love but it might be a little stressful on this knife because of its mass.

Something I was thinking of doing was to put Veff serrations to within a inch of the tip. You wouldn't be able to do push cuts but who cares, it would look sick! :)

What are Veff serations? Pics?

Those are the ones on the new CRKT's, there was a thread in reviews with them on a 300 and that's where I got the idea.

Just looked... Yikes!

I think I'm going to straighten the recurve give it a mean swedge.

What are Veff serations? Pics?

From http://www.veffsharpening.com/

On February 1, 2006, Columbia River Knife & Tool (C.R.K.T.), introduced my serrations—called Veff-Serrations. C.R.K.T. has exclusive license to produce Veff-Serrations on knives manufactured by them.

Veff-Serrations are also available directly from me, should you desire them on your favorite knife. They are unlike traditional serrations which are usually small scallops oriented at 90 degrees to the blade cutting edge. Veff-Serrations are wide and angled at 60 degrees to the edge. The resulting cutting points bite instantly and dig deep upon contact, while the large, surgically sharp valleys slice smoothly and effortlessly. Unlike traditional serrations that tend to snag and stick when cutting rope and similar material, Veff-Serrations slice through cleanly and easily. This produces dramatically improved cutting ability on rope, webbing, strapping, hose and leather.

The large open pattern of Veff-Serrations allows even the novice to restore their edges with a 3/8” ceramic sharpening rod. Extensive testing has proven the Veff-Serrations to be a superior cutting edge for all applications.

More thinking along these lines...

It works on my DDR's ;)

of course this is all subject to change...

This looks a little better and makes the recurve look ok.

This wins out though, since it's the most simple.

Alright... here's what I ended up with:

Ended up cutting a very subtle wave. I took most of the coating off the blade to leave a nice "patina". Both handle slabs were sanded and are now smoother and more pocket friendly. The Ti slab got a random pattern heat ano which brings just a tiny splash of color. Finished it all by taking a little off the top of the spine, giving it a pointier appearance.

And it's a manual ;)

Not too bad actually :D

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

very interesting...

I had my doubts at first...!!
