so my girl has decided that she wants to get out into nature with me a little more. she also wants her own knife :D which i absolutely love. i'm poor so i'm modding out my becker necker for her. i stripped it with sandpaper and put an even grey patina on it. i wanted to try my first scales on this one but don't have any of the tools to do it. i really like the look of the hemp wrap on handles but have no clue how to do this. so hopefully Magnussen will reply to this. but anyway, i am so excited about this that i thought it would be awesome if you guys could post knives you've given your better halves. hope to see some pics and hear some good advice.

That is really cool, I think she'll like it a lot. I got my wife this green handled knife from JK Knives. She has fun carving wood with it. I still do the sharpening though ;)

I had forgotten all about that knife! It`s a one of a kind, never made any more like it.

I was thinking about getting a pink izula for my ex, but then we broke up.

I'd say you're definitely right on the size range, in my experience women seem to be freaked out by large blades.

If she hasn't "had" a knife before, have you considered starting her off with a SAK. Maybe something along the lines of a camper. This was the first knife I got my ex, and much to my surprise she eventually took to keeping it in her purse.

I don't think I have a picture of it around, but I refinished the handle of a mora for an ex girlfriend a year or so back. Painted it bubble gum pink. She was a big pink fan. Came out awesome if I do say so myself. Made a nice little pouch sheath to go with it. Guess I should have kept that one. :D

Wrapping is fairly easy.... coating it with epoxy and not making a mess of it is the difficult part. If you have any questions about how... please get more specific and I'll try my best to help you figure it out.

rick, this is my first time doing it so i really have no clue what i'm doing. it's something that i've always been interested in and really want to take it further. as far as details...i just love the look of your knives and, as i don't have the tools to make wood scales, would love to go beyond a standard paracord wrap for her first knife. i'm sure the wrap would be easy, but the epoxy is what has got me stumped. how do you apply it? where do you buy it? also...where do you get hemp cord from? i can PM you if that's easier. any advice you give me would be greatly appreciated.

I did a little work on a BK11. The handles odd shape is kinda tough to work on. Good luck with your project!

My favorite lady carries a BM Fixedgrip when we are out in the woods now, it's funny because she gets so excited about the knives I've gotten her, but hardly ever carries one, even a folder in her purse. I think she might have swisscard in her purse, but she is so paranoid about getting in trouble.
