Hey everybody.

I am thinking about filing down the finger guard on my necker and was wondering if anyone has tried this before.

I love this knife, it sharpens up better than any knife I own, but I would like to have a little more finger room on it.

So, what say you?

I did that to my bk14 just the other day

Ok, If that Is the mod you mean, then I would be afraid to for fear of cutting myself. Though you might consider either using the two wrap holes at the back to bolt in an extension or getting a BK-14 :) just a thought.

Edit: though this could be less of a consideration if you have smaller hands, only like 1/2 of my index catches on the blade guard as is. different anatomies may warrant different (lesser) safety measures.

Yeah that is pretty close to the mod I meant. Although I was thinking I'd take it all the way to the top of the sharpening choil. I have trouble with it snagging on stuff. As far as cutting myself, meh, it wouldn't be the first time.:D

Jroden,
How do you like it?

ETA:
Pointy, I'd say have have large hands. It is a 3 finger knife for me.

I like it, I brought it up a bit higher than that picture today as I put on the handles, well, arched it more, I'm still tweaking it a bit , but I'm really happy with it
