Modding a spyderco dragonfly to have a steel clip

I used to carry a spyderco dragonfly in my waistband as a grooming tool/ultasharp whittling accessory/emergency shaving device.

I never liked the molded in clip because it was too bulky and had poor tension. Sure enough i lost the knife when it fell out of my waistband.

I want to get another one, grind the stock clip off, and install a metal clip.

Any ideas on what the best way to fasten the metal clip would be? Any Ideas on where to get a suitable clip?

Have you considered the Calypso Jr.? It has a standard 3-screw metal clip. It might be a little larger than the Dragonfly, but it seems to fit into the same niche.

What about just buying my NIB Carbon Fiber handle dragonfly? :D

oh sorry, it's tip-down. bummer... :grumpy:

go for it.

my dragonfly is modded w/ a metal clip and worked very well when i carried it.

if you don't feel comfortable doing this mod by yourself you can send it to spyderco with an extra 5 dollars and they will do it for you.

g'luck.

Good news! I may just do that!

If you did yours yourself, info on the clip and screws you used would be appreciated.

I love this place! I get to buy a new knife now :D

whoa, sorry 'bout the late reply. wasn't paying attention.

nope, didn't do it myself. spyderco did it for me and everything worked out great.
