I'm the owner of a Kabar Heavy Bowie, and while the knife is a terrific value I'm having an issue with it. Whenever I chop with it, the Kraton "hook" on the butt of the handle always gives me resistance and blisters if I'm not wearing gloves. Is there any "polite" way to modify the Kraton handle to remove the protuberance? Thanks in advance.

You could sand it with like 50 grit, but i doubt it will stop the blisters, that crap is worst on your hands, for me anyway.

I see what you're saying about the Kraton, but it's not the entire handle that causes blisters, just the back part of it on my pinkie when I chop with it. I guess it's similar to the "Busse pinky" that people would get with the old straight-handled Battle Mistresses.

So it's moddable with sandpaper? I didn't think rubber would react to sanding so easily.

Yes, and it would knock off the little bumps on the kraton, but like i said, i don't think that this would stop giving you that blister in that spot on your hand. i don't think it is the bumps on the kraton, more like the kraton itself against your fingers. i remember when I was a kid, i had a mountain bike with the same handle grips, and the only thing i could do was wear gloves. Wow, that was a long time ago....try sanding it, if that dont work, i would maybe try putting a different type of handle on. There is endless info on how to do it here, might want to try it.
