So, a couple weeks ago, I was very blessed to win a giveaway that hhmoore was doing in celebration of his 1,000th post in the forums. The wheels started turning as soon as I won on mods to do to this blade and I couldn't wait for it to arrive.

I taped it off earlier this past week, not sure when I'd get around to the full mod:

Today, I had some time this afternoon while my wife was off hitting some of the Memorial Day sales with her friend. So, where do we often start? Stripping the blade of course!

I used Klean Strip's Premium Stripper. It makes the coating practically leap off the blade:

When I scraped it off, it basically came off in a single sheet! I almost stopped when I saw this, but decided to keep going with the plan:

After that I started the first stage of a two phase patina process. I taped off stripes on the blade with blue painters tape, laid sliced limes on the bare steel, wrapped it in a paper towel and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then I soaked the paper town in white vinegar and let it go another 15 minutes. This is where I ended up after that:

Then it was 30 more minutes wrapped in a paper towel soaked in white vinegar. The pattern in the paper towel left a nice little effect on it as well. A little sanding, scales screwed back on, and here we are!

When I saw the finished product, the first words that came to mind were "the tiger shark." The stripes, spots, and blade shape just seem to scream "shark" to me now. So, the modding bug has bitten hard. I think it's time to go back to my 14 project that I started last year and had to put on hold. Also deciding what needs to happen to my 2, my 16, and my 4!

Looks pretty good, man. I've been thinking of stripping my 15, too. I've been digging the rustic look lately.

Awesome work brother! Looks really cool. Can't wait to see what you do with the others as well. Keep it up Semper..

Wow, that stripper does a good job. The last one I did required some wire brushing to come clean.

Very good looking Knife and I would say that your project was a great success all the way from start to the finish.! Think I will try this on one of my 2's and see what happens.! You just can't beat a Becker Knife.**

Here's my 2. Custom Marble wood scales. Modded the handle shape and removed the pommel. Custom wood sheath. Tiger stripe patina on the grind.

I'm thinking my 2 will probably be my next project after the 14 is done.
