Model 1 vs Model 14 Hilts

Does anyone know if there is a different term to describe the slightly different double guards on the Model 1 and Model 14? I will be placing an order for a new Model 14 with some modifications and I want to make it clear that I want the standard Model 14 style hilt (except in nickel/silver and NOT brass) and NOT the style hilt that is on the Model 1. I'd hate to place an order, wait 3 years, and get the wrong thing. Anyone know how I can better clarify what I want when I place my order with RMK? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

All you have to do is tell them you want a nickel silver hilt and they will put the standard 14 hilt on it. If you are worried about it, after you place the order call the shop and ask for Scott, he can look at your order and go over it with you.

Over the years, I've discovered that simply spelling out in the "king's english" what you want will get you what you want...

For example, if you want a model 1 double hilt on a model 14, just say so...write it out on your order form....I've never had them send me something other than what I ordered...

Besides, it is always interesting to "test the water" and see what Gary and his boys will do in terms of making that knife uniquely yours.

All you have to do is order the Mod. 14 and it will come with the regular style mod. 14 hilt. The #1 style is an option and must be requested or it will not be put on the knife. Thanks Greg
