I saw a post in an earlier thread that the rc guys want to make a model 1 type folder soon. I got a chance to handle one here lately and i have to say i liked it a lot, but the chance of an rc one with some linen/micarta handles and some better steel sound awesome!

If there are plans on producing a folder, are you guys thinking of the year to come or just "in our future"?

Still saving up for my first rc blades! Stupid economy!

I would love to see it happen.

The Rat-1 folder is probably my all time favorite folder.

I have never used or held a sebbie or strider, but spyderco and benchmade be damned, I love my rat.

The RAT-1 folder was not a bad folder,I gave mine away because I do not care for the AUS-8 steel used and the fact is says Tawian on it... I am funky like that...LOL when RAT Cutlery produces a USA made folder in the Future I will purchase a few of them

I hear you 100%.

I aim for USA made but the design of this folder is just fantastic.

I can't wait to see an American version, I will scarf them up.

I would love to see a lock back like the buck 110's locking design,to me liner locks pose such a safety hazard no matter how fluid you can be with 'em sooner or later you'll spill your fluids using them...the Standard lock back is strong and your body parts are not in harms way when closing .... IMO

I agree with ya Tony, I prefer lockbacks as well. I also had a RAT folder, but I think I sent it off to Dylside.... Currently using a locking SAK Fireman, but I need to figure out what I want to carry. Have a couple of Kershaw Cyclones I like a lot. Don't care for the Kabar folders..... Gotta prod RC into building a folder for us!

+1 for getting one that was made in america! I HATE that it says tawain on the blade!

I like a good strong lockback. It's hard to find a bad one for me, though if you use a knife correctly i don't think you really have to worry about it.

personally i would like to see some sort of framelock. Only problem i see with that is that they would have to make a thicker(stronger) back on the knife which i would think raise production prices and retail prices.

All said and done, the knife seems to be all about being ambidextrous. That means a lockback or something that can be easily accessed to either side would be first and foremost on the list of what do we want from this folder.

LOL ,he has a pair now..He also has mine :D

He carries them in matching hip holsters like a cowboy.

HAHAHAHAHA! That's awesome. Actually, the wife confiscated the one Tony sent me as soon as I got the second one. The one I'm carrying now is the PS black blade version that MrCoffee sent me. Pretty soon I'll be stealing Tony's back. I just have to wait for her to leave it sitting somewhere.

I too would love to see a rat folder, but as stated above do not trust linear locks. Nearly lost my finger when one collapsed on it. I would love to see something along the lines of SOG's archlock as it holds well and is smooth to operate!

When it comes to my fingers, I don't trust ANY lock. IMO, you should never use a folder thinking the lock will not fail.

Somebody was selling a few of those at a gun show in Vegas when I was there back in November.

LOL, fixed blades=folders from the future! Never worry about that locking blade, its always locked! Always in a ready to use "open" position. Fast to deploy! easy to mantain!

this is why I EDC a balisong. BEST folding lock mechanism, simply because there is no lock. Its a folding fixed blade
