Hey everyone,

I am wondering if anyone who has a model 10 fishing knife (preferably the 5" or 7") have ever used it to fillet a fish? I am interested in either the 5" or 7" for freshwater fish (walleye especially). I am concerned about the flexibility of the blade, or the lack there of.

Anyways, just looking for some personal, first hand use!

Thanks!

Free advice: If you're looking for a "flexible" knife, i.e., a filleting knife, buy the cheapest, thinnest filleting knife you can get your hands on. Nobody spends a lot of money on a knife like that, because you don't need to.

The M10 is a great knife, and quite good for gutting and cleaning fish, but if you want a filleting knife, save your money.

ETA: Don't be tempted to buy the fancy-shmancy Buck AG fileting knife in S30V either. It's thin alright, but not real flexible either. Seriously, for that job, the cheap knives are where it's at.

I would probably double everyone elses' advice.
I have a 5" and 7" and the blade is a great general purpose cutter that's right at home in the kitchen or around the house.
Cutting fish or any other foodstuff is a snap.

But if you want a flexible blade to work around a thin filet and de-bone..I think the Model 10 may be still be too thick for much close work.
