I just got one of these today. Having never seen one I was wondering as to the collectibility of it. Its in pretty decent shape, sheath in great shape. Marked as stainless steel.

Any comments appreciated...

Hi godogs,

Typically a model 10 sells for a bit less than some of the other models because the blade is ground from stock and not forged (The original list price was less as a result). The 7 inch version usually goes for a little more than a 5 inch (and a 5 inch goes for a little more than a 3 inch). There are other market value (or collectability) variables such as age and condition. For example a very good or better condition 7 inch late 40's or 50's example in a Heiser sheath is very collectable. As well an early 60's in a Johnson brown button sheath. Without some pics of your knife, it's hard to comment any further. Check e-bay completed listings ( I've linked a couple below) and as well watch current listings and soon you will have a darned good idea.

Regards,

Ron

Thanx Ron...Mine is a 7" blade and is a 70's or 80's vintage I believe. Nope is is not the brown button sheath. I appreciate the info!

Godogs57,

I collect Model 10-5's and have several different handles. The reason I started was that I came by a bunch and they did not sell so well. As I liked them myself, I just started collecting them. They would be easy to sell on todays market but I have grown attached to them. I also use one as my fishing knife.
