A good friend has given me a knife to have evaluated. It is a BUCK model B110-CH-0. It is a BUCK model 110 with a gold colored/coated blade. I had heard of these BUCKs with a blade coating to where you only sharpen them on one side but I know very little about them. I was hoping that some you house experts could give me a little rundown on this one. Also out of 10 it is a 8.5 condition wise. What would be a fair market value for this blade. I had heard that this coated blade concept did not take off. Can anyone tell me about that also?

I've got two good ionfusion preformers and one the ionfusion coating started coming off on. I think the coating is supposed to keep the knife sharper 5 times longer than regular. Be careful though, Buck doesn't warranty the coating! Even though the same warranty paperwork comes in the box.

Only one side of the blade is sharpened to let the coating extend all the way down to the cutting edge. It does stay sharp longer, but is a bit tricky-er to sharpen.
