I picked up a model 116 at a yard sale. Like new.Black leather sheath, black handle. Lady tells me it was her husband's and it had been around for years but never used.
My question: what the heck was the intended purpose or use for this funky big handle- little blade? it's almost a spey type blade on a sheath knife. was it made for some particular application? Until I find out, I think I'll just call it a Veterinarian Knife.
since I'm lacking hogs that need castrating, maybe I'll just let my wife use it in the garden.
Anybody want to chime in and tell me what this 116 is really for?

JW,
I'm trying to find out the history on this for you...

The handle is the same mold that makes the 105 I believe... volume of units probably did not warrent its own size mold... Of course if we had maybe it would have sold more

.... the catch 22 of manufacturing...

JW,
This is what I got form Joe on this
This knife was originally designed as a caping knife. Its called the caper btw.
It was made with input from a once famous, now forgotten, big game hunter. The tip design aids in removing the cape (skin or hide) from an animals head so that you can get it mounted.
That guy may have a collectors item depending on what the stamp says, he may want to find out before he uses it to dig up weeds.
Joe
I hope this helps...

Gee! Thanks Jeff,
for taking the time to check this out.
Caper, huh? makes sense now that I look at it again. It would be perfect for caping a hide.
The blade is stamped simply

The back of the black leather sheath is stamped 116.
It appears to be in unused condition with only a couple light "drawer" scratches on sheath. I guess I won't let my wife use it just yet.
