Hi all,

I read through the forum but I can't find any info on Buck Alpha Dorada - Model 270BK.

I am interested in it as an EDC, that is strong enough to carve fireboards, trap parts, etc. (primitive skill junkie). I usually use Mora fixed blades for this purpose (and they do the job, admirably) but I want something, at times, less conspicuous, so as not to scare the locals  . I originally posted this question in the Wilderness Survival forum because as a newbie, I wasn't aware there is a Buck forum. There I got some good suggestions (Victorinox SAK's which I love) but I want something with a blade a bit more sturdy. A pocket clip would be nice, but I don't think the 270 has this as an option. I should mention that I have a 112, and I like it, but I want something a little lighter.

Anybody here, own a Dorado, and if so, your thoughts?

Thank you

:) Doc :)

I picked up my Alpha Dorado to downsize from the 277 that I was using as my EDC. I carried it for a while and liked it. It's a one hand opener and feels good in your hand, at least it feels good in my hand. :) It's weight is similar to the 112's. Mine has the BOS ATS-34 blade. Fantastic

I'll attempt to attach a picture next to one of my 112's.
