All,
I've been lurking here for a few months and decided to make this question my first post.
Last week I ordered one of the Chairman Series medium Stockman folders (Model 301CWS-B) from Amazon. I got it late last week and immediately noted that a small but still significant (and dangerous) portion of the edge of the spey blade is exposed when the blade is in the closed position. Here you can see it just peeking above the handle slab:
In over 30 years of knife collecting, including a goodly number of stockman style knives from makers like Case, Schrade and Uncle Henry I have never seen a pocket knife where a portion of the edge is exposed when the blade is in the closed position.
Thinking it was simply a single knife that slipped past the QC guys at the factory I returned it to Amazon for an exchange. I got the replacement knife today and was disappointed to see it has the exact same issue. I'm now tempted to believe that the exposed spey blade is simply how Buck makes these things.
Before I send this knife off to Buck asking them to correct what I consider an unsafe blade arrangement I want to ask if anyone on the forum has seen other Buck folders with the same issue. Is this normal for their stockman-style knives?
Thanks in advance. I really enjoy the discussions on this forum.
Brian
