Model 4958

I have a new in the box Model 4958. It is a stag lock-back folder, made in Germany at the end of 1984. Snap pouch included.

As far as I know, the small black box has all the original paperwork.

How rare are these knives and what is it worth?

If I can figure out how to do it - I'll post a photo. Otherwise, I can email a photo.

Thanks, Guns3

The 4958, was called the "Bavaria" 1984-1987 MSRP in 84 was $125 and in 1987 it was $150. I watch ebay everyday for vintage stuff and have for years, you don't see many of the German made stag folders. One reason is they only made them for a few years, the other is they are drop dead gorgeous knives and most people don't want to give them up. Of the three folders they made (2 drop point and 1 clip point) your model was the only one that had full stag handles the other two were scales with bolsters on both ends. With sheath in mint condition, I would say it's value is somewhere around $175. Keep in mind though if you have a couple of serious bidders after it, things change. Nice piece !!

The knife I have is new, never used and complete with box and has (I belive) all the original paperwork.

I bought it from an old mom&pop gun store, I think around 1991 or 1992. In the box a very nice full color "flyer" is included for all the German-made knives of this special issue, the snap pouch and two other pieces of paperwork.

The knife is really nice. About as good-looking a production stag folder as you will find; the German hand fitting is there. I looked it over the other day and wondered just how much it would cost for a 2009-made replacement of equal quality.

Still, I think it will have to go on Ebay. I need other things more...
