Model 55

I recently saw one of these at a Kmart in a clamshell package. Can anyone tell me a bit about this knife? Is it basically just a half size 110?

I tried a search under Buck 55 and model 55 but nothing came up so sorry if this question has been asked before.

How much would be a good price for a new one?

Oh yeah, one more question...I have only seen it at ONE Kmart (and it was the only one there)...the other ones don't carry it. Is this knife not too numerous out there?

Aza, the 55 IS just a half size 110.

If you use the advanced search of the BF then type 055, select "search entire posts" and search in the Buck Knife Forum. You'll find some informations to this cute li'l knife.

It is a good knife Aza.
"I" have two of them. One in a box and the other in the wife's purse.
Don't be bummed if it has fine bolster scratches or mis-matched scales though
As a matter of fact, the second one I got, one of the rivet heads was punched just a bit off. I decided that wasn't the one I was gonna keep in a box. Started using it around the desk and one day noticed my wife was using it. Haven't seen it since
About $30 seems right. How much is the one at K-Mart?

Listen to this...I went back to the Kmart I saw this at and here is what I found. I went up to the case and took a look at the single Buck 55 I saw...Now I didn't look that carefully at the package the first time but just saw a knife that looked like a half sized 110 in a Buck clamshell. I just assumed that it had to be a 55 after looking on the Buck website.

Well I saw that the package said 198 mantis...then looked a little more carefully and saw that the blade on the knife in the package did not have a thumb stud on it. I had the lady open the knife case and I checked the package. Someone opened it up and replaced the mantis with a chinese made small 110 look alike.

So I left it there...the funny thing is when I pointed it out to the lady...she said to me "this is the same knife that is pictured on the back"...but it was soooo obviously not. The shape was COMPLETELY different.

So...on Mother's Day (yesterday) my step-son takes my wife's car to the car wash. Well, I'm a lucky buck...today I ran an errand using her cage.
You know how the car wash dudes put all the little stuff they find between the seats and on the floor in the ashtray?
There it is. MY Buck 055. Hopefully she will be none the wiser as it is now on my desk.
Handling it, I am amazed at how cool it is for such a munchkin of a knife.

Nice enuf to get me a 110AG Stag, 701LE Kalinga for Christmas, a Akonua LE and Scimitar for my b-day. AND, to wash my scoot from time to time.
She definitely spoils me.

The only time she gets on my butt is when I deserve it. So I'm told
