I picked up a copy of this knife at a yard sale for $5, it is identical to the one listed in this Ebay auction : http://cgi.ebay.com/Buck-Statue-of-...ryZ63792QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Mine is in a bit rougher shape than the one pictured in that the lucite scale over the banner " Keep the torch lit" is scraped/ chipped a bit (I will try to get a good photo).
Otherwise it is in good shape with what appears to be light pocket wear on it.
Does this knife have sufficient collector value that attempting to restore the scale (fill/ polish the lucite) would lower it?
Also I note that the serial ( I assume) number on the knife in the auction appears to have at least one digit hand engraved on the blade whereas on mine all the digits (much higher number- 22000+) are clearly stamped.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you, Sam.
