I have the opportunity to trade into my first JK and have two blades to pick from. I don't know anything about either (and the owner can't remember specifics because he has so many lol) so I'm finding it difficult to make the choice.
Could anyone please help provide me more info on these two awesome knives? (Model name,specs,cost/value,opinions,etc...)
Thanks guys and thanks Andy (mqqn) for posting the pics for me

Hi Guys -
Please check the pictures below - Thanks!

I replied to a pm with details I remember. Top one has no model name, bottom is a Hudson Bay from the first year I made knives, brown garolite handles. It’s probably the more desirable of the pair. If I were to make them now they would cost over $250

The original owner was either one of my early customers or they were purchased on the secondary market. That Hudson Bay is possibly the first one made, I only used brown garolite a very short time. That’s the one I would chose.

I apologize - I have been very busy at work and personally - but when Ryan contacted me as a JK Brother, you just have to help!

I thought the first blade was a modified (extended length) hiker - and the second I remember John using that handle scale material -
Either knife is going to have the excellent 01 steel heat treat, so it boils down to what you like to use in your hand.

The Hudson Bay has more "character" to the scale - either one would cut a 'fridge in half if you needed to do so.

best

I would get the second one, as a matter of fact, the Hudson Bay prototype would be a good one to bring back in the thread John started, under "What models."
