I received my second #K, Y O Ranch Guide knife from Glenn Marshall in Mason Texas. Glenn writes in his note to me: "It was designed by guides and hunters on the Y O Ranch in Mountain Home, Texas in 1980. It has proven itself in all phases as a tool for the hunter around the world in hunting areas and also for the Ranchers as a utility ranch tool. The blade is D2 die steel, hand tempered to a RC of 60. In multiple tests (with which this knife was compared) no other steel has surpassed it in edge holding."
Dressing 40 animals is the norm between sharpenings and I would commend Mr. Marshalls work if you work with your knives. He is now 85 but doing well and cranking out the knives at a gentleman's pace.

Glenn Marshalls phone number is 915-347-6207.

OK, I see one can not post attachments so I figure no pics. And, frankly I didn't think I was advertising...just excited about this nifty tool. Just need some experience here...sorry.

I remeber reading about this knife in Blade when it was designed 20 years ago! Cool! You definitely know you are getting a good worlking knife with that one.

Congratulations for your new knife. I look forward to see a picture.
I have read about Mr. Marshall not very long time ago in "La Passion des Couteaux" (a french knife magazine). There was a review that praised the performance shown by his knives. I called him to place an order and since then we have a chat by phone from time to time. He is a very pleasant and interesting man, he makes knives since the early 30's and still works as hard as someone who has a regular full time job.
