I recall seeing pictures of a fixed blade model Buck that was similar to a steak knife. I thought the model number was 106. When I search for a Buck 106 all I find is a current hatchet model. I assume these knives are hard to come by as I have only seen one at a knife show. Was there a model 106 knife?

Perhaps the 105. Still, I'd google the 123, 125 & 127, Stream Mate, Lake Mate & Ocean Mate series. I mean were just shooting in the dark here. The 106 is the hatchet. DM

Here they are.
Hope that helps.

I hope Grelcar comes back pretty soon before we have 100 photos of the possible mystery knife. Here is another possibility, the 475 Mini-Mentor. I am still betting on the 107 Scout.

It could be the 405 that was a Chuck model knife. These were issued with an Oak handle. Then years later Buck used up the left over blades as a build out with stag handles. I had always looked at this model as an over priced "steak knife" and when the fellows here were ordering the build out knife, they were not happy with my steak knife comment;).

The 107 style knife was offered as a serrated steak knife. The 107 Scout is based on the 4" paring knife from the model 200 Empress Trio cutlery set. The paring knife was also offered as a set of 6 serrated steak knives called the model 206 Windsor set introduced in 1979.
Here is the page from the 1980 catalog.

We wondered where you went. This model is hard to find. They come up on the auction site but I don't see them at shows. Did you want it for a paring knife or bird & trout? DM

I recalled seeing one at a show but couldn't remember the model number. They seem to be pretty rare. Really expensive when the show up on the auction site. Curious as to what they sold for when they were in production.

That model has a strange history. Buck brought it out in 1976 as the 107. It was stamped on the left side as Bert's photo shows and came with a drop-in pouch sheath. A first for Buck. However, the same knife had been offered since late 1972. With a Buck, USA stamp in old English script style. Not the block lettering used in 76. With micarta handles and a blade of 440C. It sold for about the same as their other fixed blades. Around 30$. Still I agree with your findings. When I find them in good shape (sheath and knife) with no box. They are offered for 7*. -- 1**. Get ready to dig if you want one. DM
