This is one for the experts.

Which khukuri is the one pointing north (at the top) in the group of knives arranged in a circle on the Khukuris page of the HI website? Also which is the one pointing south (bottom)?

I've put that picture on my desktop, and those two knives stand out. I don't have the experience with the different models you gents do (only actually seen one in person) and need the guidance.

Thanks in advance, Andy

Andy, i had to stretch the pic to get a good look at it, but I THINK the top one is a UBE (Uncle Bill Especial) and the bottom one looks like a variation of the HI M43.
I'm not an expert, but that's my best guess. both are on the shopping site:thumbup:

Thanks Jake. I didn't realize from the HI site that the Uncle Bill was that big. I gotta get me one of those. The shape is just magnificant. Anybody got one? How does it feel? My list is getting bigger and bigger. I love being an American!! Where else could you have such an extravagant collection!!! I bet most of you guys own more Khuks than the kamis. I am jealous, and slowly building that direction.

I'm definitely not an expert, but that bottom one looks an awful lot like a Dui Chirra with a Bura handle... I could swear I remember seeing a BGRS or something with one of the Bura handles in one of the DOTD threads...

Its got a real pretty shape to it. I think that Uncle Bill will be what I'm shootin for next though. But I really like the Malla, the M43, and the Ganga Ram! What am I to do. None of those are hidable knives. I need to rent an apartment to stash all these beauties!! My poor wife.

Andy, you ought to check out the UBE as well as the Sher Movie models that have been popping up. They are very close to one another. Also, keep in mind that the UBE has a FAT handle.

Jake

I've been eyeing that movie model, but I think its down the road a bit. It looks very American, and right now the foreign looking shape of the Khukuri is appealing to me. The ones that are most appealing to me currently are the large heavy choppers. My intended use is woodland/survival, and I haven't convinced myself yet that I would choose my Chiruwa AK rather than my Ruger 357 if there was a security situation in the house. As a true southerner, and rural raised American, I'm armed to the teeth, and near the bed are several firearm options. I have a wife (city girl) and a daughter to protect, so an invasion into my home would be bloody indeed. I have no hand to hand/martial arts training, but I'm from south Louisianna, so my mouth got me in trouble and my ass kicked a lot when I was young. Maybe I could get the job done with a khuk, but I'm not sure it would be safer or more of a sure thing. I'm an excellent marksman. SO...for now its the choppers that turn me on.

Thanks for the advice,

Andy

I'm also a woodworker and have an advanced shop, so fat handles are just a fun project in the works for me.
