Model "R" Question

Hello,

I have seen the "R" Model a few days ago on ebay for about 550 Bucks and I wondered if this is a lot of money for such a knife. Does anybody know something about that knife and its value/availability ?

Could you provide us a link to the auction please? I have never heard of one bringing that much. Most that I see on ebay start at about $90 and go to like maybe $125.

Well, about $100 is not as much as the guy on ebay wants...
Maybe You do not find the auction cause its on the german ebay site (ebay.de).

The guy noted in an email that he has shown the knife to some people from Spyderco at a big gun show (IWA) in Nuernberg, Germany, and they were very impressed to see this knife. Someone wanted to give him $450 immeadetly (not sure if THAT is spelled correctly:)) but the spyderco guys said the knife is worth more than that.

Anyway, thanks till now. But it would be interesting to read more information about the R.
 
I have seen that auction, too.

About a year ago someone tried to sell one of these on the German Ebay, he wanted about 200$ for it. I thought about it, but I felt it was a bit much, and as far as I remember the auction ended with no bids.

This current auction´s description says the R is limited to 1200 pieces. That is still quite a lot, I think. 550$ seems to be way too much for this.

I doubt it will sell, I would rather wait for the seller putting the knife back on auction later at a reasonable price.
 
Looks like a regular "R" to me. If that puppy was titanium handled with a damascus blade, then I could see someone asking for $550. But I don't think that is the case here.
