An interesting thing I noticed in the knife world are models with fixed and folding versions. Emerson did this with the CQC-7, then there’s the Benchmade Adamas, the Cold Steel AK-47, and even the Civivi Elementum. Usually, the folder comes first then the company makes a fixed version if there’s sufficient demand. What do you folks think about this?

Also, are there any folders you want to see interpreted as a fixed blade or vice versa? Can’t think of a lot right now, but I think a fixed Spyderco Military would be nice if executed well.

My two cents on this one, I think you can reinterpret 90% of what made the folder great while further streamlining the design as a fixed blade. So for instance, the wave opening hump can be done away with, blade-to-handle ratios can be modified, lanyard holes can be relocated, etc. Again, done well, I think seeing our favorite folders as fixed blades can be pretty exciting.

And nope, this is totally not a scheme concocted by kydex and leather sheath makers. 😄

I only have one example on Photo:

Then, Spyderco’s Ronin and Yojumbo are quite similar.

I wish CPK’s upcoming folder is similar - albeit a little shorter - than the DEK1.

Benchmade did this with some knives but i never fell in love with the fixed versions of the contego/etc. I would like to try a Ritter fixed.

TOPS B.O.B. folder/fixed.
Buck Selkirk folder/fixed.
I think the ESEE Avispa/Xancudo fits.
Some of the Hogues fixed blades and folders show very similar lines.

The elementum, CRKT M16 (wish they remade it with Sandvik). Theres a few that escapes me, bit those are the ones I currently own.

Edit: The Mongoose! Wish I had the money to spring for one right now...

Waterway/Siren? That's Stretching it a little.
