Moderator thread? Split my thread?

1st if there's a moderator thread, please move this there.

I feel that my only current thread Kukri or combat knife is being derailed, unintentionally I presume but still is. The thread is about me wanting a Kukri-like knife not too long nor too heavy. Currently people are bringing up weapons too long for my taste and I've stated it by my requirements. There's a few instances of it and I'm afraid that it will take attention away from the primary goal of the thread.

I'm not sure about your forum policy but it's not uncommon that when there's unlinked interests in a thread that its split, so that posts not or less related to the original one is moved to the new thread ; sometimes there's a note in the thread title like "[split from original name] thread name the mod made up".

So if it's you policy to make splits in such cases, please move the posts related to

OP: " I can't decide between knife A, B, and C. Which is best for task X?

Post 2: D is best.
Post 3: F is best for doing task Y
Post 3: D is no good. G is best. Here's a picture of knife G doing task W.
Post 4: No sane person does task X with a knife. Get an axe, dummy.

It never fails when you ask for advice on a chain saw you inevitably will get suggestions for a Ford Fiesta.

Just weed out the silly and look for the actual advice and you'll do just fine. Its better to ignore than to complain.

Correct. When you ask for opinions, you get them in all shapes and sizes. We tend not to intervene unless things are well on their way to hell in a shopping basket. At this point, I would not worry too much about it, you will see this all over the place. Enjoy the fact that people are interested enough to respond.
