The knife law forum shows me as the moderator, but I am also shown to be a basic member. I also cant access the back end forum.

Hiya Spark,
Same goes for me too.

s/, your loyal political correspondent:D

I can't get into the Back End either, and I wanted to post something -- I might as well post it here; most of the moderators will probably read this thread.

You can change your title now! Notice I've changed mine to "Moderator of TBG&U." Now when I post in other forums it'll be clear I'm not the moderator of that forum, and next time I take up the jawbone of an ass to smite the Philistines in TGB&U it'll be clear I am the Lord High Muck-a-Muck wielding the Scepter of Imperial Puissance (I think that might not be clear to everybody now; we have so many forums and moderators around here in some threads half the posts are from moderators). I think that'll avoid some confusion -- we should all do it.

Click on "user cp" at the top of the page and then "edit profile." Type your new title in the box for "custom user text." You only get 25 bytes so you'll have to abbreviate the name of your forum. When you change your title it affects all your posts, retroactively.

Looks like any member could change his title to moderator, but I think that's unlikely to be a problem -- he still won't have moderator powers, and as soon as we see it we can ban him or tell him to cut it out, whichever seems appropriate.

I am trying not to speculate about what title Vampire Gerbil is going to give himself....

P.S. Yes, I was logged in when I tried to access the Back End, and I tried logging out and logging in again too.

Unlike Shootist & Bronco, my title was "Moderator" before I changed it. I just tried viewing an IP in TGB&U and I could do that, so apparently I have moderator powers -- just can't get into the Back End.

Cougar.

FYI, I am unable to do the custom title. It does not have that option for me, being a non moderator, so your worries of inappropriate use may be unfounded.

I wanted to post "non bastid' instead of 'basic member', but it looks like I'm SOL.

I think changing your title must be one of the privileges that go with premium membership, and moderators must automatically be premium members but nobody else is yet.

Of course we could wait till Spark finds the time to explain all this ... but it's more fun to try to figure it out for ourselves! :)

I discovered I can upload an attachment to a post -- that's a privilege of premium members. It posted as a link not as a pic, though. One more datum point....

How did you do that?

When you post a message, there's an option that comes up at the bottom with "Attach File:" and a Browse button. You click on that, and you can upload an attachment into your post.

BladeForums.com Back End should be open now to all Moderators.

Kevin

I just went back to the thread I posted the attachment in and it's now changed from a link to an inline picture -- cool! :)

Mine says that I am not allowed to post attachments. Am I missing something?

I'm going to have to check this out further.

Kevin

Hey Spark!

So, uhhhh, how many gigs do you have on line for all these attachments?.........hmmmmmmmm......terabytes of steel images.........hmmmmmmmm......tactical blade babes..........hmmmmmmmm:D
