The moderator in the balisong forum hasn't been on in over a year I emailed him a question and got this back

I have not posted on Bladeforums in over a year.

Many years ago, I was an early joiner at bf.c and was a big supporter of this online knife discussion platform. I was honored to be asked to serve as the moderator on the first online discussion platform for balisong knives.

Eventually, the community grew to the point where it was necessary for this discussion platform to include limited advertising.

But then, as can happen on online forums, the focus of the management and moderators shifts away from being a discussion platform with limited advertising to being an advertising platform with limited discussion. I tried to advocate against this, but the advertisers have simply taken over. I can't support the heavy-handed style of "moderation" that results and the limitations of discussion.

Sorry.

Chuck has been off the radar for quite sometime. Hope things are going well for him.

My reason for the post was it was getting chaotic with no mod members were trying to help keep it together but you have those that don't belive.rules apply to the but Rev devil jumped in and squashed one of the problems ty

I'm open to hearing nominations.

Oh I have no nominations to make but will say any mod on here since I started coming here that are active would be great

Glad to help, there is another mod and myself that will be checking in on posts there regularly. I hope that will help to curtail any trolling and other behavior that detracts from good discussion.

Right on man haven't been here super long but ya tell it like it is and that's how I was taught to handle things in life makes it easier . Thanks for the help in that forum

Why do you keep moving all my threads yet when others post in the wrong section you ignore them like you're purposely after me. I see at least one contest a day under the general knife discussion yet there is a appropriate section for those threads and they never get moved. Those are blatantly wrong section and blatantly ignored. Mine are accidents and are monitored as if I had a tracking chip in me.

Below each post is a triangle with an exclamation point. If you see a thread in the wrong section, click that to report it. Likely someone reported your posts that were moved.

If you are referring to me, then you are literally posting things in the wrong forums. I'd wager a guess to say you've not been bothered to read any rules so far or anything else for that matter. We have sticky'd threads at the top of every section, the rules are in my signature line as well as at the top of the Exchange, the FAQ section is at the top of every single page. Maybe try reading through some of the suggested areas I mentioned and you wouldn't feel the way you do. Here is a summary of your activity thus far.

1. You started a thread asking where to buy knives, that does not belong in General Knife Discussion, it belongs in Feedback where that topic is what is discussed.
2. You ask about values for limited edition knives, something that is limited to Gold members or higher. This is due to abuse and many people tried veiled attempts to sell without the correct membership.
3. You made one post, mentioned a dealer that is a "subvendor" for a larger dealer. I sent a warning and literally within minutes I reversed it. I said it was my mistake.
4. You posted a thread wanting to buy something in the general discussion section, so it was again moved to the correct section.

Why all the butthurt? By joining the site, you agree to follow the posted rules, same as any other forum on the net. You actually clicked a box in order to get on the site that says that much. Nothing is hidden, it is all in plain sight and designed to help you. Not to make you feel persecuted.
If you feel other threads are posted in the wrong section, then report them using the small black triangle located underneath each single post made. Provide the location where it belongs and we will review it and move it if needed. That is what moderating is. Short of that, I'm not sure what you are looking for with all this, but I hope I have provided enough clarification to put your mind at ease some.

Edit to add: The rules for the giveaway section have not been clarified by the site owner.

Now only paying members can makes posts for the contest section. It only lets me create a new thread but I can't make posts to enter someones existing contest.

Now? It's been that way since that subforum was created and it's clearly labeled as such:

Giveaway, Contest & Raffle Forum
A place to pay it forward, help others, and raise awareness. Subject to the same rules as the exchange forums when it comes to self promotion. Restricted to Gold or higher members for replies.
