Just curious as to why the "board" wasnt asked about multi moderators? Nothing against the new ones, but seems like that would have been prudent.

Im sure he doesnt have the time, but Paul Basch would have been my suggestion.

Paul would be more than a boon to this forum.

The board wasn't asked because we didn't see the need to. We did ask a few members and moderators who they would suggest as additions, and there was a thread in the General forum for some other moderators, but we didn't see the need to involve the board for this. The board is there when we need an outside opinion on something we can't trust our own judgement on, though now that I think back, consulting them would probably have been a very good idea.

If Paul is willing to join the moderator team, and since Gus endorses him, we'd be more than happy to have him on board. Would anyone mind filling me, and the rest of us, in on his credentials so we have an idea about his background?

I have not talked to Dave about this but another good person to consider and ask is Dave Ellis. Dave is an ABS mastersmith as well as a serious collector.

Spark- Pual Basch is the "purveyor" for A.G. Russells "Cutting Edge". I really dont know him "well" ive talked to him only a handfull of times. Met him person at the Guild Show, I may be the predicatable kinda guy, but he answered my questions usually before i asked!

Anyone that has talked to him will know where im coming from.

If we could ever get Bob Bell hooked up to a computer, we would be in for a fun ride.

Ed Fowler told me that Paul knows more about custom knives and their makers than anyone.

Now that is an endorsement!

Well, since everyone says AG is a computer Guru, and since Paul and he are compadre's, maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what magic we can work.

Let me add: I would prefer Les back, as my purpose on these forums is to learn, and perhaps share my limited knowledge. I dont get on hear to sweet talk and "feel good" about myslef. Dont get me wrong- i dont always agree with Les's approach, but i always value his knowledge over any hinderance that his "approach" may cuase.

I realize my opinion may be mute, especially now, but i still think Les was a valued member and moderator to the forums.

RM, your opinion is noted, as did we read your email response when we asked you for your decision as a board member.

However, the far majority (with a ratio over 10 to 1) did not have the same opinion. They made similar points which we agree with: he has a lot of valuable knowledge, something we are not arguing with in the least. We openly admit that he has a lot of knowledge, and we respect that, however his knowledge wasn't the problem. The key issue was whether he should remain as a moderator, and that is not the same as simply having knowledge.

Not one board member said that he didn't have valuable knowledge, and most agree that his knowledge is a valuable resource. However, the overwhelming opinion was that he was not showing appropriate behavior as a moderator and should not remain in that position.

We fully encourage Les to continue posting and sharing his knowledge, and hopefully will help teach members about the custom world. However, it has been agreed on that he will not be a moderator, but a member. It's that simple.
