Much as I love traditionals, I often use my EDC as a marking kinds and it would be great to have one I can operate with one hand as the othe holds a square/tape/whatever.

My other parameters are: no more than 3.5 oz. no more than 3.5" closed, slim handle.

Any recommendations?

Thanks mucho!
Thanks!

Buck 016 Lux Pro Folding Knife 2-1/2" S30V Plain Blade, Carbon Fiber Handles

A bit longer closed than your requirements 3.75" inch closed but slimmer than a Vantage

The small Vantage 340 as mentioned with the tiewrap mod is a real nice size. It can be opened one handed without the tiewrap but the tiewrap makes it easier. Picture is with a 345 which is larger.

Come on guys this is the Buck Forum........that means Buck knives are talked about, not some other brand.

Buck 726 Mini SpitFire fits the bill. It's a back lock but can still be closed with one hand.

So you have to jury-rig the vantage for one-hand opening? Why on earth didn't they just put a stud on it?

The Lux looks awesome but don't know if I want to spend that much.

The zip tie is so it can be opened when pulling it from a pocket, by snagging the zip tie on the pocket seam. Like the wave feature.

A vantage can be one hand opened 2 ways.
1. Flipping it using the flipper (my usual way)
2. The thumb hole (works well, but not super fast)

I use a regular size vantage a lot. A great size for most everything, and barely know it is in my pocket.

Regular size 345 Vantage specs are:
3 1/4" blade length
4 3/8" closed length
3.7 oz.

Small 340 Vantage specs are:
2 5/8" blade length
3 3/4" closed length
2.3 oz.

I have a buck vantage small. Even though it was lower end than say my mini grip. I stopped carrying a lot of other knives because of it. It has some faults but once opened its a fantastic knife in hand with awesome blade geometry! I've been eyeballing the buck marksman for about a month or two now. I zip tied mine as well.

I've been carrying a small vantage at work for over a year now. I highly recommend this knife as a working tool. The small Vantage changed my mind about modern folders.
Easy one handed opening.

I would also look at the Bantam series, particularly the mid-size BLW. The small Vantage is nice, but I can't quite get all 4 fingers on the handle.

Buck Tempest, Buck Paradigm, or a Buck Rush, which is a smaller version of Tempest-all assisted openers. Available in upgraded steels for the craftsman that needs a blade that will hold an edge.

You don't have to put zip ties on your Vantage to open it one handed. It opens and closes one-handed very easily out of the box.

I carry a buck lux pro sometimes and I love it, it fits perfectly in that little coin pocket of my jeans, that way I have both my pockets empty for whatever!

Awesome, that looks perfect.

I sure like the looks of the Paradigm but not the 3-figure price tag.

This is the pro model, s30v blade. I have seen them under $75. But they also have an avid and a select that are cheaper!

I can one open every Buck that I own and I can actually thumb open all my 112s though the brass frame version is challenging! Another thing I appreciate about the 112 deep nail pulls.
