This show was on the History channel tonight, and it was pretty good. Started off with Council Tool. Then started from the very beginning, stone age flint napping, to medival, to lumber years, to modern firefighters. Pretty good info. Hell even had Larry Mcphail in it! Good show. I will of course have to purchase it now. Lot about 'hawks too.

The axe is one of the world's oldest, most dangerous and efficient cutting tools. Watch as competitive lumberjacks and Jills chop through 12-inch logs in a matter of seconds. Visit one of the nation's largest axe manufacturers to see hot metal forged into a modern axe. Take a swing with a Vikings' battleaxe and then see which knight would win in a fight of sword versus axe. Learn why the Native American tomahawk is making a comeback as a modern tactical weapon. Finally, see how the classic fireman's axe has evolved into a trailer full of high tech rescue tools.

imo the axe is the second most useful tool man kind has ever come up with. second only to the knife.

So you're the guy that buys these shows. :D I liked it though like most of the modern marvels shows I wish they did 2 or 3 hours on a subject.
That's debatable =D

Yeah. Fire would be number 1 or 2.
