this is a little kit that I can throw in back and forth from pack to pack (to pack) (yup I own a lot of packs :D) to cover some basic needs out in the hills

it's all contained in a small waterproof cuben fiber rolltop bag; contents include a small fak w/ roll of gauze, steri-strips, triple antibiotic, small meds bag, small tweezers, blister kit w/ Leukotape and benzoin, small fire kit w/ a spark-lite and four tinder tabs, mini-bic lighter and a wetfire cube, micropur tabs, TP (actually use paper shop towels as they are much more user friendly in the wild!), small headlamp a Petzel e-lite and a lanyard w/ SAK classic, whistle & photon light

and it's light, all of 5 oz

it's nice to be able to just remove the bag and throw it in my pack choice for the day and go :D

Nice idea. I was thinking of going this route, but then I realized I have all this stuff in my HPG Kit Bag already, and that goes with me on every hike. I should really post up a pic of it all exploded, but I'll save that for a later thread. I like your setup, but if it were mine, I would add a more substantial knife than the Classic. I would at least go wtih a 91mm SAK (Farmer perhaps), or a small Mora. But hey, I'm a knifey fool, so that's just me.

Sure why not. Betting the headlamp will see some use. Heck the lights in my little kits are the items which gets the most play. Real nice to have something if caught out late hiking back or to change the batteries in a primary light. Plus betting the dry sack could also hold a bit of water or forage if needed.

Good points. Even some coin lights put out quite a bit of light. I like the ideas for the bag too.

That's a nice way to organize. I like the cuben roll top bag. I have never seen one, could you tell me where I might find one to buy? Thanks much.

Nice. I have a similar kit in a ziplock that I transfer from pack to pack. The little ziplock with layers for the day and some water and my pack is ready to go.

Thank you
OldNavy for the link. This could be trouble though. There are at least three different sizes I could use. And they ain't cheap!:concern:

thanks gents :)

I got mine originally from Lawson Equipment, but he doesn't sell them any longer- in addition to hyperlite, zpacks all sells several sizes as well
