I´m searching for a inexpensive slipjoint folder, no SAK, with a carbon steel blade (or maybe even some soft stainless, paramount here is ease of sharpening). Now for the difficult part: it should have some kind of modern scales: G 10, Zytel, black Micarta, carbon fiber, whatever. Prefrrably with more than one blade, but I´m not looking for a "pocket toolbox" with screwdrivers, can openers etc.
Perfect fit and finish is not that important since it´s going to be a user. I don´t want one-hand-opening on this particular knife, it should be more like a style mix between traditional and modern.

Anything in the low price regions (up to, let´s say, 30 $) that might match my request?

Case makes some traditional models in Zytel like trappers. You may also check out Klotzli, I know they make a custom collaboration with carbon fiber scales but that knife is more like $100.

I own a Uncle Henry 3 blade stockman. was less then 15 bucks good knife to use, easy to sharpen cheap if you abuse it.
Good Luck
Jack

Take a look at the Buck 300 series. I'd recommend the 303 but if you prefer a larger knife, the 301 is great too.

Old Timers are the ticket with carbon blades and derlin handles and cheap plus a variety to choose from. Big D1

If by modern handle material you also mean celluloid or delrin, there are a number of good, inexpensive choices with decent carbon steel blades, some of the better choices are:

Case yellow handle with Cr-V blades
Kissing Crane, yellow, red, or black handles available
Bulldog with celluloid handle
Schrade Old Timer, sawcut delrin

Now, if you want a delrin handle with a great steel (although much harder to sharpen) try a Queen with D2 blades.

I'd check the Camillus Carbon Series which includes a trapper, stockman and lockback.

Low price, excellent quality. (The scales aren't as nice as some others with natural materials or even nicer delrin, but you are getting a very good knife with excellent steel at a low price. Approximately $20-25)

Schrade Old Timer model 550t has a high carbon blade and comes with a thumb stud and a liner lock. Very traditional in look, but with the benifit of the modern opening and closing.

How about an older Spyderco Mini-Dyad (or Dyad Jr). Not carbon steel, but it does have ATS-55 which is good, and it has beautiful black micarta scales.
One plain-edge blade and one serrated blade, and they both lock.

Good luck,
Allen.
