modifacations? what have you done

When I received my P-SARK, I didn't like how tightly the clip held my pants pocket. So, instead of bending the clip slightly, I took the whole knife apart. I took the clip side slab of green G10, and sanded away. I put a glass-like finish on that little sucker too! Before reassembling the knife, I washed and degreased all of the parts, excluding the screws. I reoiled the necesary areas, and reasembled the critter. This slight modification made for extremely smooth pocket withdrawls, something I find necessary with the Wave feature.

My second mod, simply consisted of replacing the existing clip on my 99 Commander, with a "Skull" clip. Minimalistic, but oh so right!

Clayton:

That's a mean looking Mach-1. Bandit did an awesome job. When I first saw it, the knife looked almost custom a la EE.

Could you drop me an e-mail regarding the pricing in Cdn funds. I was thinking of sending away my PSARK but didn't want to run into any hidden cost from the guys in Ottawa (if you know what I mean).

;)

All I've done is lightly polisht he G-10 on my Commander, and sand it so its flush with the liners (had a few MM's of overhang, didnt bother my hand, just my eyes) and I've put a little recess in the scale on the opposite side from the clip, so that I can set my middle finger into it and make reverse/forward/reverse transitions easier.

Eventually I'm gonna get a couple Skull clips, and put one onto the Commander.

And the only mod I am gonna do to my custom 7 is to put a skull clip on it... just cause, as said, it seems oh so right! :D

Very sweet Mach1

I have had:
  • * The first "Pirela Commander" (aka "Poorman's Rhino"). modified by Bill Seigle
    * Two 98 Commanders redone to include a real Satin finished blade, the addition of Green Micarta scales (one Canvas and one Linen), the liner edges cleaned up and the liners and hardware beadblasted. Modified by Bandit Knives
    * A 2000 Commander redone with thicker Black Micarta scales. Modified by Tom Stratton
A buddy has had a Commander and two BM CQC7s modified with Antique Gold Micarta scales ans full file work. Modified by Tom Stratton

I have the first SARK to P-SARK conversion to be done by Bill Seigle - this is the one shown in the gallery.

Regards,

Ed

I polished the screws, the pivot, the thumb stud, and also the clip...I did that to all my emersons...I think it's pretty cool...

This 1998 Specwar came with a high-polished blade. I have been CAREFULLY removing the fine scratched, and am now just about done restoring the blade to an absolute Mirror finish. I wonder WHO at Emerson had the TALENT to finish a blade like this one.....DUH.

Next, I am going to polish the screws and the clip. Then find some new slab material as one side has a little crack in it.

got a 2000 commander w/a skullclip and rebevel by bandyto, and a BM 975SBT w/a skullclip, and a razor sharp chisel grind edge - i love both of them!!!!!!!

A mini-CQC7 is in the works to match my regular one. Of course, now that I am making these, I might have to carry my own knife:

dogman,
on the cqc7, what materials did you use? i really like the bolsters and the scales. are the scales linen micarta? and are the scales finished with anything?
-clayton

The top one is black linen micarta with 416 stainless bolsters, the middle one is G10 and the bottom one is bead blasted green canvas and both have Ti bolsters.

One of these days, John might even put my pictures in the Emerson Gallery;)

dogman,
you do wonderful work. beautiful construction. if ya ever want to redue another knife just drop me a line. i would love to have you modify my emerson with new liners

My CQC 7A works on a daily basis.
I do a lot of general maintenance, welding, carpentry and renovations, so a wide variety of knife related tasks crop up every day.
As I know myself, I wanted to ensure that I do not break off my knife’s tip by using it as a pry-bar and paint tin opener.
So, I installed my invention – the “oupa-lever”.
It is basically a coin, with a diameter slightly smaller than the width of the knife handle.
I positioned the coin so that about 3/8 of an inch protrudes past the end of the handle.
I then used the clip as a template and drilled 3 holes through the coin and bolted it to the handle, using the "spare" holes, at the front end of the knife.
I use this sturdy, removable lever for general prying jobs.
:D

I had one of my Commanders modified with a set of two different handle materials. One is a polished and sculpted G10 that is more than what I expected. The other material is carbon fiber. I also had the liners polished and jeweled and filework done to it also. The clip itself has been polished and has filework on the edges. The screws have been replaced with polished torx screws.

With photopoint down and out I can't post any pics of the knife. But to me it's a real eye pleaser

Bob, actually there are several of your pictures in the collection. They'll be up when we move it. Also a couple of these are going in. :D
