After I modified JunkYard Dog II

and decurve Swamp Rat Mini Uncle Mojo

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=463669

I came brave enough to modify ZT-302. I desided first to decurve it to have no problem with sharpening. After I did that I found out that thumbstud did not let me sharpen end of the edge because it stays right on the way of stone - can not have right angle. I had to reshape thumbstud just to be able to sharpen blade. After this was done and I already was in modification mode - I finally reshape flipper - made choil on it - same as I did for JunkYard Dog.

Now it has excellent edge - at least best I can do, and much more convinient flipper with place for index finger.

And this is how it looks before:

Thanks, Vassili.

Wow you really went at it didnt you. From what I can see it looks like you did a good job. Does it cut better now? What prompted you to do all this.

Vas, I like the edge on it but why grind down the thumbstuds?

Because it stays on the way of benchstone when sharpening - just did not let me to sharpen it.

Just draw the line 90 degree to the edge and you see that thumstud will be on it's way.

Thanks, Vassili.

whoa that looks crazy.

I like my 302 just the way it is, dont think I would have the nerve to try that lol. I told myself when it comes for a resharpen, I will just send it to Kershaw:) I have used mine alot, and its held a great edge, still hair poppin sharp.
Good job and glad your happy with it.

Got one of these just the other day (ZT302) and do plan on doing some pimping.

Just remember not to grind off the thumbstud entirely (and I do see that you did not do that)...because I believe it also acts as a stop pin.

The edge is indeed quite thick...so I understand the desire to get a better angle.

Sure, I grinded out only part which block diamondstone during sharpening. May be I did it bit more then I should just to keep both sides even.
