Hello all,

Here are some pics of the modifications I have made to a Camillus Arc Lite.
I wrapped the handle with camo cord that I got at Home Depot, and I also removed the neck chain and replaced it with the same cord. I used the underwrap technique shown on the Running Dog website: http://runningdogknife.homestead.com/cordwrap.html
Steve Harvey had mentioned that in order to wrap his Arc Lite he had to put scales on it first because the cord will not pull through due to the holes in the Arc Lite’s handle. He was right, so instead of trying to put scales on it I simply cut out two strips of cardboard from the back of a writing pad and covered the holes with it and then wrapped. For the neck cord I had to remove the inside of the cord in order to get it to fit through the tiny holes that the chain went through. I then tied the ends to the cord and burned off the excess so now it is adjustable in the same style as Newt Livesay’s neck knives. These changes made such an improvement. To be honest with you, without the changes the knife would have wound up in the bottom of a draw. It was too uncomfortable to carry or use. The chain was too skinny and uncomfortable and so was the handle(IMHO). Since I made these improvements, I have not taken the knife off yet

I would like to give a big thanks to all those who responded to a previous question I had about cord wrapping, thanks guys. Well, I hope you enjoy the pics. Take care.

Louis,
The Arc Lite looks great. I hope that you really enjoy the knife. I liked the neck chain that came with mine. I also wrapped the handle and found it to be a better for my hand. Happy cutting.

Hi Louis!
That really looks good. Good job! Thanks for sharing that with us.

Looks good, Louis. But say, I think your carpet has some sort of problem. There are these weird bumps all over it!

Seriously, is the cord you used the "std" 550? I got some from Brigade QMaster, but haven't gotten around to wrapping my Stiff KISS. Is your cord maybe a bigger diameter?

Bugs,

The cord is different from 550. It does not seem to be as dense. The package just says, "Camouflage Polypropylene Cord" If you want some I would be more than happy to send you some, just get in touch with me.

i think they sell the same stuff at wal-mart.it is hollow, like 550 cord, but has a synthetic cotton type filling.i think its pretty good stuff for the money, but the 550 is better IMHO.
BTW-thanks again for the mirage louis.

darned good job - did about the same w/mine w/black para cord - didnt have to put on handles, was lucky i guess - in an Email darrel ralph told me he doesnt wrap his - but IMHO it does make it feel better - am gonna try the cord around the neck too - i carry mine daily when biking, and for $20 ya cant beat it - recently did my KISS but did it like in CRKT website pics - looping cord inside the handles, leaves a space open between the handles hard to describe - but it works well.......

Nice, Louis! Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
