Hello everyone. One of my all time favorite knives is the 47 Viper. I have always thought though, that it would be even better if it had a secondary blade. Through the generosity of another collector, I tracked down a pen blade and back spring from a 47 Hay'n Helper, and just sent it away to have the pen blade added to my black plum jigged bone Viper. Has this ever been done before? i am very excited to see the results!

Lots of people delete blades (?) but I don't recall seeing anybody add one. Can't wait to see it, should be more useful with two.

I haven’t seen it done on a Viper, but it might work out ok. Should be pretty sweet, too! The Hay’n Helper has such a substantial pen blade, it’s one of the best parts of that knife. It’s approaching the length of another full sized blade. Share some pics if it works out!
Edit: looking at the pics now, it’s possible that the placement of the nail nicks might be an issue on the wharncliffe. I no longer have a Viper to compare, though.

Cap lifters seem to be a popular add to 15s. I’ve seen a number of “Beerlows” in the past.

The Viper and the Hay'n Helper have different diameters pivots. I don't see how this could be done.

You could drill out the other blade and liners/ bolsters (which is very difficult and I’ve broken a lot of drill bits doing it) there are also what amount to brass rings that if you got the right sizes could be fitted in the home of the pen blade to size it the same as the main blade. I’ve never bought or used those but have seen them in knives I’ve redone I just don’t know the sizes they come in or if that way would be doable.
