Here's the stock 15010. A very nice knife. Don't see much in the way of discussion or pictures of it on the web.

Here it is (along with its family members) with the gut-hook mostly removed, making it a very practical, all-purpose fixed Bone. For my purposes, anyway. I really like the stock finish of these blades, but I may remove all the writing at some point, except for the Benchmade logo. Goofy marketing campaign, IMO.

I posted this another thread:

The small BC handle fits me better than any other knife I have ever used. It is a wonder of shape and grip; your hand just hugs the thing.

I was not that crazy about the blade however. Don't get me wrong: the D2 is scary sharp, and features excellent edge retention. But the hole is a little small, I don't care for the blade shape, and I can't stand the Bone Collector image.

So...I had the blade switched with the one off of a Mini Presidio. Voila! I now have the closest I have ever come to my perfect knife.

Yea, the handles are a work of art, imo. Great design and feel. Sort of a shame about the "image" projected on these knives by the marketing dept. I think the BC folders are destined to become classics, once more people start getting them in their hands. With tongue in cheek, I've offered a new, more general-interest slogan elsewhere:

The Gripsidio. A marriage made in Oregon City.

<Odd observation>

Where you guys see a gut hook, I see a line cutter - used for quick, one handed cutting of "lines" (fishing line up to paracord), hay bale twine or packaging twine, locked zipties, seat belts, etc.... hmmm...

I just picked up the 2.5" fixed blade smaller model in the leaf/drop point configuration. I am very impressed with the attention to detail, such as the jimping where it makes most sense. I looked at the Spydrco Enuff, but couldn't wrap my head around the plastic handle and lack of jimping.

Were you able to remove the "bone collector" writing on the blade? If so how did you do it? I love Benchmade knives and want to buy this knife but the bone collector writing is a deal breaker for me.
