I am a new member and thought I should say "hello" and post up a knife I worked on this week. I bought this from a member, it's a maserin am2, great knife but a little heavy for what I like and also had some really bad hot spots. I liked the blade so decided to fix a few things, goal was to get it in the 4.5oz range while keeping the full cutting edge of 3.5".
The top picture is of the blade In stock form as delivered. It started out around 8.75" long with 5.8oz wieght. It ended up 8.25" with the full cutting edge(only modified for sheepsfoot and better piercing abillity) The new wieght is right at 4.5 ounces. I will take a picture as I wanted it to balance with one finger directly at the relief cut just like my CRK sebenzas and after a couple hours accomplished this. Really love how it came out, and the quality of screws and pivots, carbon fiber, blade steel N690, The Maserin brand seems to put out a great product with very high end materials.

Anyways just wanted to make a first post as this seems like a great forum. For anyone into motorcycles as well just google my username and it will take you to my gallery of work, etc. THIS IS NOT AN advertisment as I don't DO anything knife related, simply sharing my hobbies and what I personally do for a living with motorcycles.

Nice! I've got all 4 of those too, lovem. The masiren is an awesome knife. I would lovelit if it were lighter too. Some Skelton of the metal liners would help probably.

you have good taste! lol

yes that was the first thing was to skelatonize the liners but to get ride of almost 2 ounces was a much larger surgery then that. How does it fit you hand? I hated and with minutes the end will dig into my palm and feel like it was going to cut. Im going to buy another and do some other mods as there fun blades and you can find them for a great price. I ordered some jade handle material and am going to do one like that then black out the liners so you will will be able to see all the skalatonized frame and whatnot... This one is subtle but even the top of the blade has been removed, etc to get it this light.

any more off the blade and it wont flick properly, I mean it would but you would have to really force it, right know it flys open close to stock but I can tell just a tad more and it would require wrist action to flip it at certain angles so I stopped at that point and blended it all in.

yeah I almost sent you a message as at first I was not happy with how sharp the one edge is, but thought might as well fix it up as I got it for such a good deal and its a really high quality blade.
