Just wondering what you guys think about this deadfall. It was a quick attempt while dealing with a new dog running around. I first tried with a rounded end to hold the post but was having trouble with lateral stability. So i tried to flatten out the stick holding it up. In retrospect i guess i could have drilled a hole in the round post.Oh and I used my Stripped and convexed RC-4 for this project.

I think that's very similar to the paiute deadfall.

Good job, especially with a new dog running around!

Nice job man that will work. Just because what you saw in a book with drawing or whatever does not mean that when you got make it up it looks just like what you saw.
I modify most if not all my traps to some degree.

Bryan,

Looking good Bro..Of course you'd want a heavier weight but the principal is sound... also I like that the crushing weight is at a more accute angle than normaly depicted as the weights (if it is heavy enough) close proximity to the ground will give the prey less time top react before it is trapped... also I like that the main support stick is out of the weigh of the crushing weight so that there is no chance of the weight striking it and messing up the action when the trap is sprung...Ive nailed many a mouse with a similar setup.
