A forumite on here messaged me recently asking about my TOPS Tracker, are they any good and should he get one etc as he'd seen one for sale. I won't say which member this was but he might post on this thread himself.
Anyway I always find recommending knives very tough, especially one as controversial as the Tracker, as we all like different styles. He's messaged again today and told me he's ordered it and for what he's paid I believe he's got a bargain, anyway he asked if I could take mine out and post some pics while he waits for his to arrive...I can't turn down a request like that so off I went today !
First task today was to get back to that resin I posted yesterday....

Tough stuff to chip off but I got myself a decent amount...

As we went a little further I noticed the bird Snicker had killed yesterday had gone, nature always cleans up it's mess unlike many people you see !
We headed further along a trail toward the old cabin site...

Nothing left of the old cabin except a few scraps of wood and this plaque...

To show the Tracker can be used for practical tasks I decided to make a modified figure 4 trap. First step was to rough shape the section of wood, the heft of the Tracker enables you to rough shape wood very quickly as you would with a small axe....

To break the wood down into smaller pieces I used the Tracker's saw back to notch the wood where I wanted it to break....

That's two parts completed now to find one for the bait stick...

With the bait stick finished I set up the trap( If I was using it for real I'd set the trap on a section of thick bark etc so it wouldn't sink into the soft soil, as this was just a practice I set it up on a rock ).....

Once again if using it for real I'd smother peanut butter on the end of the bait stick to make a rat or squirrel etc have to work to get it off. Here is a little video of me triggering the trap...

WARNING: Make sure to keep your fingers clear when setting up the trap and NEVER leave one set up after practicing !
Then it was just a case of drinking my tea before heading back !
