While picking up a riding mower battery this past weekend in a local Walmart, I found this gem sitting in the knife case. No box, no sheath, just the knife with a clearance sticker stuck to the blade. Twenty bucks for a genuine Ontario.
These were fairly popular back on about 2016 when they first showed up in stores and are modified retail versions of the Jet Pilot Survival Knife, also known as the Ontario Model 499. The blade doesn't have the relief milling and there's no swedge ground in, but, other than those two things, these are nearly identical to the true JPSK.
The bolt has 03-11 and OKC stamped into it. The blade itself has no markings.
The fellow who grabbed it out of the case told me they were preparing for a huge inventory and he wasn't sure where or how this one was found, just that it turned up while they were preparing for the upcoming hullabaloo. He couldn't find it in the system, even though the sticker had a barcode, so he manually entered it and knocked another five bucks off for the wait, so I got it for fifteen bucks plus state ransom out the door.
It might be worth keeping eyes out if anyone happens through a Walmart in the upcoming days. I haven't seen one of these in stores since well before the scamdemic, so who knows what might pop up in the case with a big yellow sticker.
