I finally got my power supply and I've been experimenting for the last few days. After a failure with a Boker, I decided to take the plunge and anodize my Techno.

Here's some before shots.

Prep work.

Fresh out of the bath. This picture shows the color better than any of the others, but none of them show deep blue color very well. I hope to get some better shots tomorrow during daylight.

Back together With new and freshly anodized stand offs.

I'm very happy with the final result and now have plans for my Sage 2, but that will have to wait for now...

Wow! If it had looked like that from the factory I would have bought one. Very nice, indeed.

You did an exceptional job! I absolutely love the blue (kind of partial to it, in any shade). :)

Was the lockface the only surface you protected during the anodizing process? Also, what exactly did you use (the green looking stuff) to protect it?

The lock face on the Techno is carbidized and the detent ball is steel so they need to be masked while etching and anodizing. I used fingernail polish for the masking and chose toxic green because I like it. :D

Thanks! :)

I rarely see modded folders that I like but you did an excellent job, and it looks great. If you like honest wear on a knife...I imagine it will look even better as the ano starts to wear.

If it's not too much trouble...what equip. did you use to perform the process?

Thank you everyone for all the kind words. As promised, here's some more pics.

The weather didn't cooperate today, but I did manage to get a couple of outdoor pics. The color still doesn't show well in most of the pics.

knolan, The youtube video below shows and explains the same setup that I have. I found the video to be one of the most helpful on the net.

In this picture you can see part of my setup. One thing that I added was beer, yes beer. I needed a little extra courage to throw the Techno into the etch. :D
