Hello,
I decided to add an Opinel to my knife collection. I searched the web for info and found an old post about Opinel mods, which inspired the following. Nothing special, but I'm pleased with the results
Now I guess I'll have to make another trip to the store for a second one, to actually go in the collection!
Modifications done:
-reprofile the handle, then stain (water based ) and wipe on poly
-reprofile blade to drop point
-forced patina, I first tried mustard but the results were not what I was looking for. I then polished the blade with steel wool and then applied one layer of paper towel soaked in balsamic vinegar.
I think the results look ok, like an old well used knife.
