modified skinners and butchers

I have been having fun reshaping carbon blades to shape and size more useful to me. Came across an antique buffalo hunters knife holder at the Museum of Appalachia antique show. Held 6 knives, all Russells, and one English skinner, wish I had taken photo. case was a 4" wide light wood block about 8" long, hexagon shared, wrapped in leather, and with 6 slots cut into top of block matching sides at points of compass whcihnthe knives slipped into. . with shoulder strap.

Here are some of my mods which will serve well.

here is a cleaver-to-chopper/skinner in progress. just need to finish edge. I really like the rivets on this old handle .
